Hatmill celebrates National Diversity Month

# # # #

A sector as diverse as logistics needs a diverse workforce. All ages, all backgrounds, all skill sets where your skills will be developed, and where your ambitions can be realised. At Hatmill, we try to replicate this by hiring people from diverse backgrounds to reflect the clients we serve.

Diversity and inclusion are fundamental to our values, something that is evidenced in the results of a recent employee engagement survey by the Great Place To Work® team.

This can be attributed to our inclusive nature, from our flexible, work from anywhere policies and employee ownership to our non hierarchical structure. Our scores in the survey saw Hatmill ranked runner up in UK’s Best Workplaces™ 2024 (medium category) by Great Place To Work®, the global authority on workplace culture..

HEIDI network

2022 saw the launch of the HEIDI network (Hatmill Equity, Inclusivity and Diversity) to champion DEI at Hatmill. The objective of the group is to actively challenge ourselves on how we can improve the good work we are doing and identify opportunities for change. Last year HEIDI reviewed and increased our enhanced parental leave benefits.

Mental Health First Aid Training

Over 50% of the Hatmill team are trained in first aid for Mental Health.  The aim of the training is to raise mental health awareness, reduce stigma around mental health and enhance a positive support culture, both internally and externally with clients. The training has also empowered people with a long-term mental health issue or disability to thrive at Hatmill.

Mental health awareness is a key focus with regular sessions held to encourage more open conversations and sharing of experiences.

Flexible working and supporting female talent

27% of our team is female compared to the industry average of 21%. However we want to go further and have a number of initiatives on the go to increase our female talent. Our support of Generation Logistics is all about inspiring the next generation, and particularly women, to consider a career in logistics given the flexible nature of the industry and the benefits it provides.

Supply chain and logistics really is a career for everyone. To find out more about our diverse and inclusive working environment, click here.
