Martin Copeland

Martin started his career on the Graduate programme with AAH Pharmaceuticals gaining insight into all areas of autonomous depot management and operational process. After a number of Branch Manager roles Martin moved into the project team to work on the Company’s rationalisation into RDC’s, automation and the restructure of their FMCG offering. This led to Martin running the Company’s stand-alone FMCG wholesale operation supplying Chemists across the UK. This business was then sold and the offer was extended to independent discount retailers. Through this period Martin was involved in multiple DC start-up, rationalisation projects, as different businesses were integrated, and WMS/Voice pick implementations.

Martin has also experienced retail distribution at Poundworld, the discount retailer, managing the warehousing and distribution through a significant growth period, integrating a number of smaller warehouses into a new 200,000sq ft DC and implementing fleet optimisation enabling the Company to enjoy continued growth.

Martin’s skillset covers all areas of warehousing and transport, delivering operational management, strategic development, WMS implementation and project management. Martin has a wealth of people management skills and successfully implementing major change programmes, both procedural and technological and he has a passion for analysing issues and delivering solutions.

Since joining Hatmill Martin has been working with the team on the NHS PPE business unit, supporting the 3PL responsible for ensuring the continuous supply of PPE throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
