Hatmill supports Read Easy UK
Hatmill, the employee-owned, Yorkshire-based supply chain and logistics consultancy, has donated £24,000 to six deserving charities.
The charities were put forward by team members and individuals voted as to which ones they wanted to support. The unanimous team decision was to support the charities below:
- British Beekeepers Association
- Little Hiccups
- Motor Neurone Disease Association
- Read Easy
- St Peter’s Hospice
- The Clothing Bank

Read Easy UK is the only national charity that provides free, confidential and one-to-one reading coaching via volunteer coaches to adults who struggle to read in the UK.
Reading is a basic requirement of everyday life, and for many of us it is a skill we take for granted. Yet there are 2.4 million adults in England alone who can barely read or cannot read at all (Skills for Life Survey, 2011, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills – latest government figures).
Read Easy has nearly 100 groups nationally and offers a tailored and supportive approach to learning to read through a network of dedicated and passionate volunteers. Trained volunteers provide one-to-one support to adults, creating a supportive and non-judgemental environment. By providing a safe and confidential space, Read Easy encourages individuals to take the first step towards improving their reading skills. This personalised approach is crucial to addressing the unique needs and challenges that adult readers face, fostering a sense of trust and encouragement. This can be done face to face or online and learning to read takes anywhere from 6-24 months (on average).
