In the third of our blogs shining a spotlight on the charities we support, Rich Duffy, a consultant at Hatmill shares more about the charity he put forward.
“Little Hiccups is a Leeds-based award winning support group that has been set up by parents who have children with additional needs and disabilities.
It is through personal experience that the founder, Linsay Medica, recognises the importance of allowing parents and families of a child with an additional needs/disability the opportunity to meet people in similar situations, to make friends and support each other. Little Hiccups can support families that have a child(ren) under 16 with additional needs or a disability.
Little Hiccups offer a range of support from outreach programmes, equipment hire, hydrotherapy, counselling, Stay n Play sessions as well as family fun days
In 2021, Little Hiccups was awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. Equivalent to an MBE, QAVS are the highest awards given to local voluntary groups in the UK, and they are awarded for life.”
Miriam Watson-Pratt, Trustee at Little Hiccups, said:
“With Hatmill’s generous support, the donation can help some very special children and their families to make memories they can treasure forever. The money will go a long way in furthering our efforts to provide vital resources, support and respite to families who need it most. Thanks to Hatmill and all our supporters for their invaluable contributions. They reaffirm the power of unity and remind us of the difference we can make when we come together with a common purpose.”
The six charities were put forward by team members and individuals voted as to which ones they wanted to support. The unanimous team decision was to support the charities below:
- British Beekeepers Association
- Little Hiccups
- Motor Neurone Disease Association
- Read Easy
- St Peter’s Hospice
- The Clothing Bank
