I have been working for Hatmill since 2018. I joined soon after graduating university where I attained a 1st-class degree in Mathematics. Since joining, my focus has predominantly been around systems development, modelling and general data analysis.
Over the course of my degree I spent time studying many different branches of mathematics, focussing mainly on the purer topics. While lots of these have very few applications outside of mathematics, I believe that they allowed me to develop critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. These are skills that I have since begun applying to a variety of functional problems with Hatmill.
Whilst studying for my degree and other school qualifications, I also spent 5 years working in an ASDA superstore. This allowed me to gain a functional understanding of how an FMCG business runs at the ground level.
Some of my key experience since joining Hatmill includes:
- Supported a demand forecasting review of a European manufacturer and distributer, simplifying and improving their forecasting strategy. This involved gaining a deep understanding of current processes before setting out recommendations to improve.
- Built a WMS data modelling tool to analyse warehouse performance from goods-in to goods-out. The model, built in Tableau, uses time-stamped transactional WMS data to build up a picture of what is going on in the operation, and what can be improved. Key functionality includes assessing and optimising warehouse layouts, a specific function that has been used by a Global US Manufacturer.
- Was involved in the development and delivery of Hatmill’s Virtual Forecaster solution, focusing on underlying theory, systems development and the creation of an interactive data analysis reporting suite.
- Carried out in-depth analysis during an end-to-end supply chain review of a >£1bn turnover retailer. This involved modelling and analysing data across all aspects of the supply chain, from planning and the flow of goods from the Far East, to the inland warehousing and logistics operation.
I’m a huge fan of the variety that working with Hatmill brings and enjoy helping the team solve challenges that can be found across supply chains in any industry.
