On time, or not, that is the question
In many ways, logistics is like a theatre show, particularly when we think about operational and transport planning. Paddy MacBrant explains why.
I joined Hatmill in 2022, after foundational years within a large global 3PL, which built to a senior operational role within an omni-channel retail setting. I’ve also gained experience within the aviation and healthcare sectors. My career highlight (to date) has been as part of the leadership team that delivered the successful start-up of a 400sqft fully automated site.
My industry experience originally came with DHL Supply Chain, before moving to URBN UK Ltd. in 2015. My time at DHL gave me a great base to develop skills across multiple sectors, in operational and transport roles. Moving to URBN initially involved taking the lead on day-to-day operations, across a semi-automated, dual-building site. Through this time, growth outstripped capacity, which led to the decision of the business investing in a new, fully automated fulfilment centre. I played an integral role in navigating the (original) site closure, migration, then subsequent automation start-up (during COVID).
The journey of implementing and optimising new automation within a high-volume, JIT operation has taught me a great deal over the last 3 year, that I hope to play forward and further leverage, to best support our future partners.
