Hatmill donates to St Peter’s Hospice
Hatmill has donated £24,000 to six deserving charities, chosen by the team.
In the second of our blogs shining a spotlight on the charities we support, Rob Cottrell, a consultant at Hatmill shares more about the charity he put forward.
St Peter’s Hospice is a charity that provides care and support to adults who are living with a progressive life-limiting illness in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset area. They have been established for over 40 years with the majority of their support provided in people’s homes.
People receiving their care have a wide range of conditions, including cancer, heart failure, lung disease and neurological illness. Support is focused around the physical, psychological, social and spiritual issues that can arise as a result of serious illness, in order to improve the quality of a person’s life.
Serving as a beacon of hope and solace, St Peter’s Hospice annually touches the lives of thousands facing life-limiting illnesses. From pain management to bereavement support, their dedicated 24/7 team provides unwavering assistance both within their state-of-the-art Inpatient Unit and remotely, adapting even to online platforms amidst challenges like the pandemic. An epitome of clinical and educational excellence, the Hospice extends its expertise to other healthcare entities, ensuring comprehensive end-of-life care. Remarkably, the community funds 78% of their operations, emphasising the Hospice’s reliance on generous contributions, shopping, and volunteers. As they rightly proclaim, #weareyourhospice.
St Peter’s Hospice is a charity that is personally close to my heart due to the compassionate support they gave to my grandad and our family allowing him to pass away peacefully at home, which was his wish.
Ben Lee, Philanthropy and Partnership Manager at St Peter’s Hospice said:
“We are immensely grateful for the contributions Hatmill has made to St Peter’s Hospice. Over the past 12 months, our dedicated team has delivered 24,148 community nurse specialist appointments and conducted over 8,711 hospice at home visits. It is through the generous support of companies like Hatmill and members of the public that we are able to provide essential care and support to individuals and families across the city. Their generosity enables us to continue our mission of providing compassionate end-of-life care to those who need it most. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Hatmill and all our supporters for their invaluable contributions.”
The six charities were put forward by team members and individuals voted as to which ones they wanted to support. The unanimous team decision was to support the charities below:
- British Beekeepers Association
- Little Hiccups
